The  Golfers’ Association represents twenty three clubs in Dumfries and Galloway in the South of Scotland. It arranges golf matches for both adults and juniors with neighbouring associations, runs open competitions, including the South Championship and Match Championship.

The Association is really strong in promoting junior golf by providing coaching at different levels and encouraging juniors to take part in competitions within and outside the region. Junior coaching is partly funded by Scottish Golf the governing body for amateur golf in Scotland.

In conjunction with the three County Associations the South provides a coordinating role for Clubs in matters such as course rating and in the arrangement of Open competitions. The South of Scotland Golfers’ Association is one of the associations affiliated to Scottish Golf Limited, formerly the SGU.

Sheriff George Campion was the first president in 1905, a time when a few of our clubs existed. In that year E J Denoon won the first South of Scotland Championship. Dumfries and Galloway Golf Club was founded in 1880 and Wigtownshire County in 1894.
