Scotlands 16 Areas Set To Compete For National Pride

AT GOLFKINGS SCOTTISH MEN’S AREA TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP
A field of 96 players from 16 areas associations the length and breadth of Scotland will gather at Cawder tomorrow (Friday 7 September) to do battle for this year’s GolfKings Scottish Men’s Area Team Championship.
The three-day Scottish Golf organised event, sponsored by golf holiday specialists GolfKings, will see teams of six from each of Scotland’s 16 Areas contest 36-hole stroke play qualification over Cawder’s Championship and Kier Courses on Friday for a chance to make it through to the knockout match play stages which take place over the weekend.
The top eight teams following the stroke play will qualify for match play quarter finals on Saturday morning with the semi finals taking place that afternoon. The final two teams standing will then go head-to-head for the title in a series of foursomes and singles matches on Sunday.
This year’s event is once again wide open having been won by six different areas over the past six years with the North East’s success in 2017 preceded by Lanarkshire (2016), Ayrshire (2015), Renfrewshire (2014), Fife (2013) and Perth & Kinross (2012). Leading individuals over the same period (in reverse order) have been Calum Fyfe (Cawder), Connor Syme (Drumoig), Ewen Ferguson (Bearsden), Craig Ross (Kirkhill), Ewan Scott (St Andrews) and James White (Lundin).
