Cottingham Parks and Skidby Lakes

Cottingham Parks enjoys an excellent reputation as a popular destination for all types of groups. Opened in 1994, the 18 hole par 72 course makes good use of the existing trees enhanced by landscaping and many man made water features.
The signature hole, the 12th, is a perfect example of this. It is not the longest hole on the course, measuring a mere 346 yards, but it has seen the end of many promising medal cards. Water on the right hand side of the fairway demands an accurate tee shot, leaving an equally demanding approach shot
over bunkers with more water to the right of the green, while out of bounds to the left catches anyone trying to play “safe”.

While the course presents a fair challenge to all levels, the modern spacious clubhouse, with balcony overlooking the 1st tee and 18th green offers the perfect surrounding for relaxing with a pint and carrying out the inevitable post mortem, making it an ideal location for an enjoyable golf break, visiting party or corporate day.

Following its addition to the Cottingham Leisure Limited portfolio in 2008, the Skidby Lakes course has been re-designed to enhance the enjoyment of all those who play the course. Given the relative short yardage for a modern day course it should not be under estimated. The introduction of several dog leg holes have added to the interest and demands of course management while the small sometimes tricky greens will test your putting ability. As its name would suggest, water is the main feature of the course, coming into play on no less than seven holes and its character is further enhanced by a recent major tree planting programme
The 10th hole is the signature hole. Measuring 363 yards, the fairway slopes from left to right towards the stream that runs through the course. The further left you go, ‘the safe tee shot’, the more you
have to play your 2nd shot over the water to an elevated green.

Following the re-development, Skidby is now open for membership recruitment. Visiting parties rates start at just £18 pp, and to complete the package Cottingham Leisure, in conjunction with The local Mercure Hotel, offer golf breaks starting at as little as £89 pp
