Gleneagles, the world-famous hotel and sporting estate, has welcomed young Scottish golf tour professional Calum Hill as a new brand ambassador.

Calum joins fellow young Scot, Hannah McCook, and former Open Champion and Scottish golf legend, Paul Lawrie OBE, as representatives of ‘The Glorious Playground’ on the global stage.

Calum (24), who lives in Crook of Devon, Perthshire, just 12 miles from the 850-acre estate, returned to Scotland after completing a scholarship in America, where he obtained both Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees.

During his time at the University of Western New Mexico his golf game blossomed, and in 2017 won the San Juan and Arizona Opens, victories that were his springboard into the professional game.

Calum has subsequently gone on to compete in the 2018 US Open at Shinnecock Hills, win the Galgorm & Spa Northern Ireland Open in the same year, and now plays on the European Challenge Tour.

He commented: “Gleneagles is not only an iconic destination for golfers around the world but it also holds a special place in my heart, being so close to my family home, and a venue where I continue to practice.

“To have the support of the only venue in Europe to stage both The Ryder Cup and the forthcoming Solheim Cup, and during the Centenary year of The King’s and The Queen’s courses too, is invaluable as I continue to develop my career.”

Gleneagles newly announced Golf Ambassador, Hannah McCook.

Gleneagles, the world-famous Scottish hotel and sporting estate, has today announced Hannah McCook, as a new Golf Ambassador, supporting the iconic Perthshire venue’s plans to inspire more young people, school children and women to take up the game.

Recently turned professional, proud Scot Hannah (25), who was born in Aberdeen and raised in Strathspey, was one of Scotland’s leading amateur players, winning three consecutive Scottish Golf Ladies Order of Merit titles before transitioning to the pro ranks this year.

Hannah joins fellow Scot and 1999 Open Champion, Paul Lawrie, as an ambassador, at a time when the award-winning 850-acre Perthshire estate prepares to celebrate the Centenary of its Top 100-ranked championship courses, The King’s and The Queen’s, designed by James Braid.

Gleneagles will also host the 16^th playing of The Solheim Cup, from September 9-15, the pinnacle of women’s professional golf, on the Jack Nicklaus-designed PGA Centenary Course.

Hannah, who was previously a member at Gleneagles during her Sports Studies degree course at The University of Stirling, said: “I’m incredibly proud to be representing both Scotland and Gleneagles as a professional golfer. Gleneagles holds a special place in my heart and to now be a golf ambassador for such an iconic Scottish brand is a dream come true.”

2018 marked Hannah’s standout season as an amateur, winning both The Welsh Ladies Open Strokeplay and its Irish equivalent just a week later. Hannah was part of the victorious team to represent Scotland at the Ladies Home Internationals in Ireland, and she also represented her country at the World Amateur Team Championships.

Hannah will initially focus her tournament play on the Ladies European Tour Access Series, with the aim of progressing onto the main Ladies European Tour. She also continues to work with the SportScotland Institute of Sport and PGA personal coach, David Torrance.
