A testing championship course with first class facilities, S&A – as it is widely and affectionately known, was founded in 1906, part of the great golf boom around the turn of the 20th century. Inevitably the passing of so many years has brought about changes to the course, but the traditional feel of a championship links has been retained.

The club has hosted two Ryder Cup matches in 1933 and 1937 and a number of other prestigious championships including The British Ladies’ Open and The British Amateur. It remains a final qualifying course for The Open Championship and it has been voted by one golf magazine as among the top 50 courses in Great Britain. The course is a magnificent test of golf, especially with the sea breeze and profusion of heather and gorse combining to provide a challenging and immensely enjoyable day.

Complemented with a warm welcome friendly lounge/bar and exceptional catering, everything is in place for a truly memorable experience. The spectacular clubhouse creates a splendid setting for unwinding after a round. The main lounge and patio to the front of the clubhouse provide stunning views across the course, including the 18th green and 1st tee.

Members and visitors can relax in the comfort of the main lounge area which is split into the Lounge, the Ryder Cup Room and the Casual Bar.

S&A takes great pride in its catering and bar operation, with an experienced and friendly team on hand to cater for every taste and occasion.

The club’s memorabilia display cabinets and photographic archives are of real historical interest.

Silverdale Golf Club is set in a stunning location with fabulous views over the surrounding countryside, across Morecambe Bay and towards the Cumbrian Howgill Fells. Whilst there are opportunities for birdies, there are also challenging holes, creating a course that appeals to golfers of all ages and abilities, as well as having the 13th Plateau famous for being included in the 100 most extraordinary golf holes in the UK book. The course is one of the few in the area open during the winter months thanks to its magnificent greenkeeping team who keep the course in playable condition all year round. The facilities have been recently refurbished and the Camra Award winning clubhouse is open to the public, where you can enjoy a drink, light snack or full meal. ‘Fish’n’chip’ Fridays are very popular, so booking is advised. One of the finest heathland golf courses in Great Britain

You will find us in the East Midlands to the east of Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, U.K. We are a long established heathland course alongside the pines, silver birch and oak trees of Clipstone Woods within the legendary Sherwood Forest.

We are very proud of our reputation as one of the oldest and finest heathland golf courses in Great Britain and are currently rated 93rd best in the British Isles and 43rd in England. The course was intially designed by Harry Colt and subsequently enhanced by James Braid.

The English Golf Union, when staging the 2006 England Boy’s Amateur Stroke Play Championships, described Sherwood Forest Golf Club as being ‘in a league of its own’. As a premier course the club has hosted many national competitions over the years, including the ‘British and English Seniors’ and regional qualifying for the ‘Open Championship’.

The 5092 yard course, only opened in 2009, already shows maturity far beyond its years, with the architects and greenkeeping staff creating a course that feels and plays like an established layout. This is in part due to the natural topography of the course, along with the care and attention take when shaping the fairways and greens.

A stat of the art drainage network ensures the course remains not only open for play in almost all weathers, but creates superb year round playing surfaces.

After golf, guest can relax in the comfortable log cabin style clubhouse, which has balconies overlooking the 9th & 18th greens, and offers a wide range of food, snacks and drinks.

TRAVELLING TO STRANRAER GOLF CLUB

From the North / Glasgow
If you are travelling from the North follow signs for Kilmarnock (M77) and then on to Ayr and Girvan (A77). At Girvan, continue south on the A77, along the coast, until you reach Stranraer where you will briefly join the A717. Follow signs for Leswalt (A718) and you will see Stranraer Golf Club on your right, approximately 2-3 miles out of Stranraer.

From the East / England
Stranraer is the last major town on the A75 Euroroute which begins at Gretna Green on the Scotland / England border. From the M6, take junction 22 (Gretna Green) and follow signs for Dumfries & Stranraer. Continue on the A75 heading West, for approximately 95 miles until you reach the town of Stranraer. Once you enter Stranraer, follow signs for the ferry port and then onwards to Leswalt (A718). You will see Stranraer Golf Club on your right, approximately 2-3 miles out of Stranraer.

Skipton Golf Club

Skipton Golf Club, one of the most scenic courses in the North of England, was founded in 1893 on the outskirts of the famous Yorkshire Dales market town.

2018, the club’s landmark 125^th anniversary, saw some of the biggest changes to the course in its entire history, with a revised layout and three newly designed and professionally constructed holes, including two brand-new par 4s, plus many other enhancements.

The course continues to offer challenges to all standards of golfers. It’s now a par 71 with three par 3s, 13 par 4s and two par 5s, including Skipton’s very own ‘Amen Corner,’ two holes to test any golfer.

Skipton Golf Club is renowned for its hospitality, a welcome typified by PGA Professional, Peter Robinson, who makes a lasting impression on all who come into contact with him.

The club continues to welcome new members of all ages and abilities – cost-effective and value-added packages remain available – along with a ‘Get into Golf’ incentive for budding golfers keen to learn the game, yet seeking both help and inspiration to do so.

Visitors and Golf Societies also remain welcome. Like members, not only can they enjoy the much praised new course, but also take advantage of a fully-refurbished, spacious and comfortable clubhouse, offering a full bar, great home-cooked food and stunning long distance views over the picture postcard Yorkshire countryside.

Upstairs is a smaller, more intimate and fully equipped function/meeting room which can, like the main clubhouse, be hired for private functions, celebrations and funeral parties.

Scarcroft Golf Club is situated to the North of Leeds in very pleasant rural surroundings yet only five miles from the vibrant city centre. Some of our close golfing neighbours include Alwoodley and Moortown  but there are other quality courses in this area each offering their own different challenges and within the “Golden Triangle” of North Leeds Golf clubs.

Scarcroft is an easy to walk course with gently meandering fairways with mature trees adjacent to many holes as well as some water features to test your golfing prowess. It is a relatively new course having opened in 1937 being designed by Major Charles Mackenzie. Its par 71 provides a good test for all golfers and our Open Competitions offer a great opportunity to play and compete over this delightful course, but they do fill up quickly.

In the clubhouse, which is retro in its design, we offer a very warm welcome along with home cooked meals and snacks to suit your needs and requirements.

Scarcroft has hosted Yorkshire Union and Leeds Inter District Union matches as well as England and Yorkshire Ladies Golf tournaments.
